Melanie Birt holds a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology and somehow ended up as a Pre-Press and Production Exec in the newspaper and magazine industry before deciding to do what she always wanted to do…be a photographer.
She is largely self-taught and merges her media and behavioral science background with her photography work, to create visual stories for her portrait and commercial clients. When not juggling work and family, she skips town as often as possible to immerse herself in, and document, the beauty of the world around us.
Melanie has been an accredited member of the AIPP since 2011. In 2017 She was a Victorian Landscape Photographer of the Year Finalist and gained her Associate Ribbon in 2018. She contributes to the photographic community through volunteer work as a judge, mentor, and through her work with the local high school camera club.
She currently lives in Cronulla, Sydney with her husband and two kids, and harbours a burning desire to do a custom fit-out on a Toyota Coaster and live off-grid on an endless road trip.
